Liposuction improves body contour by removing unsightly fat deposits with a tube and vacuum device. This procedure can be performed using tumescence or wet techniques. Liposuction techniques usually act against fat cells. A saline solution containing local anesthesia and adrenaline is used, which reduces blood loss, facilitates the extraction of fat, and also reduces post-operative discomfort. It also reduces bruising and swelling that appears after the intervention. The most common areas in which liposuction is performed are: chin, cheeks, neck, forearms, abdomen, hips, thighs, knees, calves and ankles.
